LPG – The Fuel of the Future

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is now giving you the opportunity to cut your fuel costs in half and is ideally suitable for the larger V8 powered Rover engines.

It is possible to enjoy the pleasure of having a smooth, quiet running Rover V8 engine instead of the noise of a diesel for the same cost. LPG is becoming more widely available, with most major fuel companies planning to have filling sites soon.

Pressurised LPG fuel tanks are stronger and will survive greater impacts than diesel or petrol tanks. In an accident an LPG tank is built to withstand 10 times the damage a plastic or steel petrol tank could.

All conversions have a duel fuel operation which enables you to switch over from LPG to petrol at any time. The conversion costs from £1000 plus VAT, with up to 400 miles of range between refueling depending on tank size.

The fuel cost is approximately 35-39 pence per litre; with the probability that petrol and diesel costs are to continue to escalate in the future this will make the option of using LPG even more attractive.

Another major consideration is that LPG is by far the cleanest running fuel available, giving much lower emissions than petrol or diesel. This results in a cleaner environment and longer lasting engines.

Providing the engine of your vehicle is in good condition, the conversion will take between one and three days to complete depending on the number of tanks fitted.

Comparison of running costs per 12000 miles

Unleaded @ 86p per ltr. 16mpg = 2928.00
Diesel @ 84p per ltr. 28mpg = 1632.00
LPG @ 39p per ltr. 14mpg = 1512.00

These figures are based on a 4.0ltr Range Rover, before and after conversion, and a 200tdi Discovery, both used daily by ourselves.

The economic benefits are clearly shown and with conversion costs from £800 + VAT it is possible to recover the cost of conversion within 12 months. For more information, or a quotation on your vehicle, please contact us.
